Virtues
INTENTION & HOPE
On the left:
LOGIC has its lever. It is Intention.
It asks: “What’s in it for me?”
“Is it worth it?”
If yes — I’s in.
If not — I’m out.
On the right:
LOVE feeds on hope. Often fragile,
yet always unwavering, carved into the granite of the soul.
Contra Spem Spero — hope against hope.
Semper Fidelis — always faithful.
In such hearts and such homes, God dwells.
TRUTH & FAITH
And now we arrive at Truth and Faith.
On the left:
“In God we trust” etched on banknotes.
Golden rings on fingers.
Golden medallions on chests.
Magnificent temples adorned in splendor.
This is the display of Faith.
On the right:
But worn-out shoes given to a homeless man…
An ardent prayer…
An old woman offering her last coin to someone in need…
Hours of silent contemplation…
That is true Faith.
Who first thought to count, weigh, or measure the energy of Love?
Perhaps it was the work of all humanity,
an idea born from many hearts at once.
No one can trace it now.
But that is not what matters.
What matters is… fractions.
ILLUSION
(FRACTION – 9972/3324 = 1662/554 = 3)
Illusion is our mutual gift.
Each of us sees the world differently.
We project our beliefs, observations, and reflections
into literature, films, memes, comments, and gossip.
Long ago, the sharing of thought products was distilled to essence.
Today, as if coloured boiling water,
it has flooded the world through new technologies.
We no longer know what is Truth and what is Illusion.
Hence the formula:
R = P + W + I
Reality (R) equals Truth (P) plus Faith (W) plus Illusion (I).
After transformation:
I = R – P - W
Illusion (I) is Reality (R) stripped of Truth (P) and stripped of Faith (W).
And what about Truth?
From the original formula:
P = R - (W + I)
Truth (P) is Reality (R) cleansed of Faith (W) distorted by Illusion (I).
Thus the fraction —
a symbol of Truth obscured by Illusion.
When simplified by “six,” it yields “three.”
And the number three matters,
because the Game’s board holds six pieces:
Body, Mind, Heart, Soul, Faith, and Truth.
LOGIC & LOVE
This is the duel between Heaven and Earth.
Between Logic and Love, which together can create Harmony.
Let Philosophy — the wisdom of inquiry —
be judged by royal Mathematics.
Perhaps, together, they will spark
“the spark of wisdom that can alter the course of fate.”
(The Sea and the Sky appear on screen.)
Truth (P) equals Reality (R).
This equation does not include the Mystery of the Absolute.
For where the Absolute escapes form,
both art and violence are born.
Religious wars, ideological wars, egoic wars
have consumed 150 million lives in the last three centuries.
Conflicts continue still.
Reality reminds us that the Absolute cannot be contained in an image.
It can only be sought in silence, in trust and in surrender.
Yet its creations can be read as signposts.
If doubts still trouble you — look at the sea.
Look at the horizon.
That simple line dividing Heaven and Earth.
And reflect on your own humanity.
